Simmons is a pretty hardcore AFC, I’m surprised that you would quote him here. I remember reading this same article and thinking what a clown he was. In fact, I almost wrote him an email.

I love Simmons’ work BTW, he’s a very smart and funny writer and a fellow Boston sports fan. But I’ve noticed in a lot of columns he is observing the singles scene and saying that every hot, single young girl is a carrier of STD’s. To me, it’s his way of covering up his own utter lack of skill with women.

He’s married with kids now, but he said in an interview he didn’t have a girlfriend from 1982-1987. That would be from the ages of 23-28. Ouch, thats some pretty prime time to be missing out on.

Dude, as a PUA instructor, you’re hating on clubs? Honestly I sort of feel you, I have had a lot more success in regular bars for whatever reason. But you can’t deny that a good club has a higher percentage of really hot women than you’re going to find almost anywhere else.

I have never bought a bottle at a club and dont plan on doing so anytime soon. I prefer my booze cheap or free. But that hasnt stopped me getting a ton of pussy out of clubs, SNLs or number/D2s.

Tyler Durden has a whole riff about tables in clubs in the Blueprint that’s money. If you’re a cool guy, you’ll pull, table or no table. No girl is going to fuck you because you bought an overpriced bottle of booze that she can scam you for.

It’s pretty typical that an AFC like Simmons would react to this situation by thinking that if he were still a single guy he would have to buy into this stupid fucking racket to get laid.

@Thomas: A couple things. As far as clubs go, I explained it in the first post. They’re great for finding the hottest girls. It’s just that some of the “ultra” clubs in places like Manhattan, South Beach, and Vegas are becoming so ridiculous with red carpet, velvet ropes, ridiculous prices, and practically segregating the venue by how much money everyone makes, that it’s taking the fun out of it. I don’t know where you’re from, but unless you’ve been to one of these places ($50 minimum to enter), you probably don’t know what I or Simmons are talking about.

Second point: you’re pretty harsh on Simmons. I’ve never understood guys in the community who are such asses to “AFC’s.” There’s nothing “wrong” with being an AFC. I guarantee you that Simmons leads a happy and fulfilling life… probably happier and more fulfilling than yours if you contemplate writing an email to a guy for no other reason than that he’s worse with women than you. Get some perspective man.

#1 The reason I thought about writing him is because he consistently talks about all hot women as having STDs. To me its disrespectful to women and its pretty obviously a cover up for insecurity.

#2 Theres plenty wrong with being an AFC. Not having a girlfriend for 5 years while youre in your twenties? Theres plenty wrong with that. Are you forgetting that the reason all these guys pay you their hard earned money is because theyre tired of being lonely and they want choice with women? And if definitely wouldnt be so quick to assume that because hes married with kids that hes happy and fulfilled.

#3 Dude, I have been to Vegas twice and Miami twice in the past couple years. I went to Pure, Body English, Ghost Bar, Tao, and some other shit in Vegas, Mansion, Nikki Beach, Cameo, Prive/Opium Garden, the Delano and others I’m forgetting in Miami. I havent been to XS in Vegas and some other spots because they weren’t open at that time.

BUT, my main point is that as a PU instructor I feel youre condoning a limiting belief about clubs. If I was paying for a bootcamp I wouldnt want to hear from my instructor that a certain type of venue is “too hard” or the women are “stupid”. Guess what, a lot of hot “club” women are either not that bright or purposely downplay their intelligence. But dont tell me you or Simmons or the majority of guys wouldnt still want to fuck those types of chicks regardless. I’ve been in plenty of these spots, and theres plenty of sets to open all over the place regardless of whether you have a table or are in VIP.

I’ve heard the podcast where Bill Simmons refers to not having a girlfriend for five years. It totally comes across as an off-hand joke. I think he’s talking about a some sports stuff he was into back in the day, then he quips, “And from my priorities you can tell I didn’t have a girlfriend for a few years.”

At the time I heard it sounded like, a) It wasn’t even true and was just making a joke, or b) He just wasn’t dating anyone seriously at the time, but obviously had no problem getting girls. I mean he comes across as a normal, fun, well-adjusted person. Why wouldn’t he be able to get women?

And yeah, overall you seem like one of those dudes who gets into the community then gets this false sense of arrogance because you know better than the AFC masses. It really isn’t black and white. Lots of “AFC’s” are a million times more successful with women than weirdoes in the community. Yeah, the weirdoes know more about seduction on paper, but they’re just as likely to hold limiting beliefs about women or have all kinds of behavior or personality flaws that hinder them. It’s just that their limiting beliefs and behaviors are of a different flavor than the AFC ones, they’re just as bad though.

@Thomas: Apparently you aren’t reading these posts. Never have I once commented on the high quality girls in these places being “too hard” or “stupid.” The posts have been about how the logistics and ridiculous set up of these places is starting to drain the fun out for me. Yes, after 5 years of going to places like this almost every weekend, I’m starting to get tired of all of their bullshit. The women are fine. But you can find beautiful women almost anywhere, in any city, so it’s really just a complaint at having to deal with these places, their staff, and their retarded set up.

And in Simmons’ defense, I think the “STD” thing is more of a quip towards girls dressing like completely hookers these days (which you can’t really argue, although I enjoy it), not that “hot girls have STD’s.”

Whatever. I read and listen to Simmons’ podcasts all the time. To me there is a clear pattern of him disparaging females because he is frustrated he could never pull.

I highly doubt that Sinn’s situation and Bill Simmons are at all similar. Sinn hasnt had a girlfriend for years most certainly as a matter of choice. I havent had a “girlfriend” in the traditional sense in 4 years, yet in that period I have never once wanted for female attention. Simmons does not strike me in any way as someone who had much choice in these matters.

An AFC, as everyone in this community knows (I dont know why you guys are feigning ignorance as to the meaning of this term) is someone that wants to fuck more girls but cant, either because he has limiting beliefs or he needs to work on himself or his game in some way, ie the majority of us when we got into this…myself included BTW.

Anyways I just got back from vegas this weekend. I was at XS at Encore hotel and pretty much what he wrote was spot on. Line of about thousand ppl to get in. $50 cover charge, about 50 tables reserved at 2 bottle min starting at $1000. Clubs pulling in a million a night easily. The funny part?! most of the people who were hooking up either knew each other or met outside the club. Its not rocket science people, people get laid every day. If “AFC” even cared to write Lay reports they would probably put most puas to shame.

Thomas: I think the thing you’re not getting is that we’re not complaining about sarging in clubs. We’re complaining about the clubs themselves. It’s like going to an art gallery — I could pick up chicks if I went to an art gallery, but I’d probably be bored out of my mind, so I don’t go. It’s the same for these high end clubs, they end up annoying me. And honestly, getting one more piece of pussy after all these years really isn’t that big of a deal to me anymore, so to me it’s not worth putting up with.
