Its really Conscious Competence vs Unconscious Competence when understanding the two groups in IMO. The transition from intermediate to advanced is really the hardest part in the game. That also goes for life in general. Now that does not mean you have to be as good as Mystery, Style, Savoy, or [insert another guru] to date the women you want. Besides, not everyone wants to achieve that sort of mastery anyway. They're the dudes who go on dates fairly regularly, meet girls through friends or online, and don't have a huge, huge amount of trouble finding someone to get into a relationship with or occasionally someone to hook up with But at the same time they don't feel in control of the whole process or the girls they end up with. They'll go on a bunch of dates that don't go anywhere and finish them wondering, "I know I'm doing something wrong, but I can't put my finger on what..." They'll have longer dry spells than they'd like. Haha, not sure what the point of that observation is, just the first thing I thought of.
