There’s not much point to this blog post, but I figured I’d just mention it anyway. I’ve been studying a lot of marketing and sales material. And the parallels that I keep seeing between sales and marketing and pick up is really kind of blowing me away.

I mean, some of these seminars I’m watching, if you just replaced “make money” with “get laid,” you’d have a phenomenal pick up seminar.

In a lot of ways these concepts are much more advanced than the ones we have in this community, and I have to say, they’re influencing my thinking a lot (once again simplifying things… always good).

And when it comes down to it, I suppose it makes sense. In sales you’re engineering a value exchange, and that value exchange just happens to be monetary. In pick up and relationships, you’re engineering a value exchange, it just happens to be emotional/sexual. In both it’s extremely important to connect with your “leads” on a personal level, and in both it’s very easy to misuse your abilities for selfish purposes.
